Tottenham Handed Boost In Pursuit Of "Fantastic" £120k-p/w Star

Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Dean Henderson, as it is now becoming inevitable the Manchester United player will leave Old Trafford permanently this summer, according to a report from Football Insider.

Which goalkeepers could Tottenham sign this summer?

Tottenham have been linked with moves for a number of goalkeepers to replace Hugo Lloris, who is now 36-years-old, with journalist Alasdair Gold previously mentioning the likes of David Raya, Mike Maignan and Jan Oblak as potential options.

More recently, Spurs have held talks about signing Valencia's Giorgi Mamardashvili, although there may well be stiff competition for his signature this summer, with Chelsea and Manchester United also named as potential suitors.

Journalist Alex Crook has recently claimed Lloris is becoming a "big issue" for the Lilywhites, having been unimpressed by his "dreadful" performance against Newcastle United, and it appears likely a replacement will be brought in this summer,

As per a report from Football Insider, Tottenham have recently received a boost in their pursuit of Henderson, as he is desperate to play regularly, which means he is inevitably going to leave Man United in the summer.

The Red Devils are advancing in contract talks with David De Gea, and the Englishman has no intention of being a back-up option, meaning he is set to depart, with Nottingham Forest also poised to make an offer.

The goalkeeper has spent the current season on loan at Forest, and they will propose a permanent switch, should they avoid relegation from the Premier League, but a deal will not transpire if they finish in the bottom three, opening the door for a move to north London.

Should Tottenham sign Dean Henderson?

The Man United youth product has been blighted by injuries this season, missing the last 15 Premier League games, however whenever he has received regular game time, he has been a key player for the Tricky Trees.

With an average Sofascore match rating of 6.88, the £120k-per-week shot-stopper is among the best-performing players in Steve Cooper's squad, and he impressed in a match against Tottenham earlier in the campaign.

Although Spurs ran out 2-0 winners at the City Ground, the Whitehaven-born goalkeeper did not make things easy, saving a penalty from Harry Kane, and the striker described his compatriot's performance as "fantastic" after the match.

At 26-years-old, Henderson is still very young for a goalkeeper, so he has plenty of time to develop even further, and he would be an excellent signing for Tottenham.

Aston Villa Submit Enquiry To Sign "Talented" £1.6k-p/w Star

Aston Villa have made contact to bring Stade De Reims midfielder Dion Lopy to the Premier League, according to reports.

What's the latest on Lopy to Aston Villa?

The Senegal international is an academy graduate at the Stade Auguste Delaune having initially joined his outfit’s B side in 2020, before being promoted to the first-team the following summer as per Transfermarkt, and he’s since made 59 senior appearances to date.

The Ligue 1 star’s contract isn’t set to expire for another three years, but having impressed during his 15 starts and 11 substitute outings this season, via WhoScored, his performances have caught the eye of Unai Emery.

The Daily Mail recently credited the Midlands outfit with an interest in the 21-year-old and reported that the board were completing background checks to discover whether he would be an ideal fit for their squad, and it must have been positive because they have already taken their admiration one step further.

According to Wiw Sport (via Sport Witness), Aston Villa have “joined the chase” to sign Lopy ahead of the 2023/24 season. NSWE have “shown interest” in completing a deal for the £1.6k-per-week ace and have “asked” about his availability, but aren’t alone in their pursuit with Crystal Palace, Marseille and Salernitana also plotting a move. Reims are expected to make “strong demands” in order to even consider sanctioning their player’s sale during the upcoming window, but the exact fee needed to prise him away remains to be seen.

Would Lopy be a good signing for Aston Villa?

Aston Villa will be aware that Lopy is still very much in his development stages, but considering the potential that he’s shown so far – which has seen him lauded a “talented” defensive midfielder by football scout Jacek Kulig – he would be a promising signing for the long-term future of the club.

The Dakar native currently ranks in the 90th percentile for blocks by midfielders and has won 21 tackles from 40 players challenged so far this season, as per FBRef, so loves to get stuck in and win back possession for his side in the centre of the park, even if his success rate needs improving as he matures.

The 6 foot 1 star, who already has experience on the international stage having represented his nation 13 times across all levels, would additionally add versatility to Emery’s squad with his ability to operate in defensive, central and attacking midfield, making him a useful option for the boss to have at his disposal.

£60k-p/w Star May Leave West Ham In Swap Deal

Insider ExWHUEmployee has claimed that West Ham United may receive a swap deal offer for Declan Rice from Manchester City which includes Kalvin Phillips.

What's the latest on Declan Rice and West Ham?

The Hammers will no doubt be fully focused on their upcoming Europa Conferences League semi-final against AZ Alkmaar this week.

However, beyond that, the other topic on everyone's mind is the future of club captain Rice. After all, it seems he will be leaving in the summer with a host of top Premier League clubs linked.

As per a recent report in The Guardian, Manchester United now intend to rival Arsenal for the £60k-per-week England midfielder.

However, it sounds as though Man City are potentially ready to enter the race – as explained by Ex on The West Ham Way podcast.

The insider said (6:12): “100 per cent, Guardiola rates Declan Rice – I know that factually, I've got sources at Manchester City. I know he rates him.

"I always said at the start as well that Moyes massively rates Kalvin Phillips and he wanted to actually pair the two up at West Ham, Rice and Phillips.

"But you know, apparently we bid £50m for Phillips, but it never got through at Leeds and then he obviously went to Man City after that.

"But I wouldn't, as I've always said, wouldn't be surprised if Man City do try to offer Phillips for Rice and money.”

Will Kalvin Phillips join West Ham?

As per a recent report in Sky Sports, while the Hammers expect at least £120m for Rice, they could be open to doing a swap deal to help reduce that fee as well.

And Man City could be on the look for a new midfielder as they seem set to miss out on touted target Jude Bellingham who will likely now end up at Real Madrid instead.

And so, with these two developments in mind, it's not hard to see how Ex's transfer claim could come to pass this summer.

West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice.

After all, Moyes has even gone on the record about hoping to sign former Leeds United midfielder Phillips in the past and actually offered more than the £45m he was eventually sold for.

He told the Daily Mail: "We bid more than that. We’re trying to be competitive with the big teams. If we can’t, we have to find another way of keeping up with them."

Well seeing as Phillips has hardly played for City this season – with just 104 minutes of league action – it seems as though he could be on the market again this summer.

Now with Rice to offer too, perhaps West Ham can finally get that deal done.

Liverpool Must Ditch Thiago By Signing £53m Warrior

Liverpool are reportedly eyeing a swoop for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Manuel Ugarte, who has been in stellar form for his Portuguese outfit this season.

Having fallen from their perch after years of illustrious success under Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool need to rebuild and forge a path back to the top, and the midfield in particular is set to see an overhaul.

James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are all poised to depart in the summer as their contracts conclude, with loanee Arthur also on his way out, and Uruguayan Ugarte could be a brilliant addition to bring a new layer of robustness to the Reds' centre.

According to Portuguese outlet O Jogo, a fee of £53m would be required to prise the 22-year-old away from Lisbon, but his performances this term have been emphatic and with Newcastle United also circling, the Anfield hierarchy might be wise to act swiftly.

Should Liverpool sign Manuel Ugarte?

Despite the forthcoming midfield exodus at Anfield, Ugarte could be viewed as a replacement for Thiago Alcantara, who has cut a frustrating figure for much of his time at the outfit.

Signing for Liverpool from Bayern Munich for £25m in 2020, the 32-year-old Spaniard has dazzled with his superlative ability but has often been confined to the medical room, missing 60 matches across his three campaigns for the Reds, and could be running out of time to forge a central role in Klopp's plans.

Ugarte might not be a like-for-like change, but Klopp has not shirked from shifting the system before.

Gini Wijnaldum, relentless and tireless in his industrious midfield role, was replaced by the ball-playing wizard upon the expiry of his contract in 2021, a move which has arguably not quite worked.

For all of Thiago's brilliant qualities as a pass master, he doesn't quite fit the mould of a quintessential Jurgen Klopp midfielder, and Ugarte, who is himself an assured presence on the ball, completing a commendable career average 89.3% of his passes, could provide the vigour to raise the energy levels once more.

Thiago-Liverpool-Klopp-Premier-League

As per FBref, the Uruguayan menace ranks among the top 1% of midfielders in the 'Men's Next 8 divisions' (the leagues below the established big five) for pass completion, also in the top 10% for successful take-ons, the top 1% for tackles and the top 2% for interceptions per 90.

He is the "midfield machine", in the words of talent scout Jacek Kulig, that could revitalise Liverpool's central engine and navigate a course back to the forefront of English and European football, with his seasonal heat map for Sporting highlighting his unrelenting ubiquity.

Also praised as a "warrior" by Kulig, Ugarte would bring the iron-clad resolve back to Anfield and fortify the midfield with his imposing demeanour on the pitch.

With Thiago's fitness levels failing to meet the grade, Klopp must act ruthlessly and sign a prodigious talent awaiting a move to one of Europe's biggest teams.

Rangers Scout 23 y/o "Top Professional"

Glasgow Rangers scouted goalkeeper Ivor Pandur over the weekend ahead of a potential move, according to The Daily Mail.

What’s the latest Rangers transfer news involving Pandur?

Michael Beale appears to be making a head start when it comes to possible signings prior to his first full season in charge. It looks set to be a busy few months in the transfer market when it comes to incomings and outgoings, with a number of players out of contract at Ibrox.

Chelsea right-back Dujon Sterling and Norwich City midfielder Kieran Dowell appear to be close to making the move north on free transfers, with the former of the two having a tour of the Gers’ training centre. Up to 10 new additions could be made this summer, one of which may be Pandur following a recent update.

The Daily Mail shared more Rangers news in their transfer confidential story in the last 48 hours, with the club making their first move for Pandur.

They said that Gers scouts checked in on Pandur for Fortuna Sittard against PSV Eindhoven on Sunday, with the goalkeeper under consideration over a summer transfer. A move for Jack Butland is seemingly too expensive at this moment in time, with Pandur appearing to be an alternative.

Who is Pandur?

You can see why Rangers are on the hunt for a new shot-stopper this summer, with Allan McGregor one of those who is out of contract in a matter of weeks and looks destined to call time on his time with the Light Blues.

Pandur, a Croatia U21 international, is 23 years of age and is on loan at Fortuna Sittard from Hellas Verona. He has made 29 appearances for his current employers, and a permanent move appears to be on the cards. He has even recently been hailed by Sjoerd Ars, Fortuna’s technical manager, who described the player as a "top professional".

“Ivor has developed fantastically this season. The rack isn’t finished yet. He is a top professional, works hard every day and always with a big smile. We are of course super happy that we have now managed to capture him for four seasons.”

Therefore, if Rangers can’t get a deal over the line for Butland, Pandur, who was previously linked with Liverpool, could be a shrewd target, potentially arriving to challenge Robby McCrorie next season in what will be Beale’s first full season in charge.

Tottenham: "Aggressive" Boss Wanted By Spurs Will Leave Club

Eintracht Frankfurt have confirmed that manager Oliver Glasner will leave at the end of the season, after claims Tottenham Hotspur want him.

What’s the latest Spurs manager news?

Chairman Daniel Levy and Spurs are intensifying the chase for Antonio Conte’s replacement and are said to have completed the due-diligence stage of their managerial search.

Interviews and discussions have been held with a few candidates, including the likes of Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique, coming after the out-of-work pair departed their most previous sides.

Meanwhile, currently employed managers are also attracting interest, with Xabi Alonso of Bayer Leverkusen and Sporting Lisbon’s Ruben Amorim among the coaches admired by Levy.

Glasner, who led Eintracht to Europa League glory at the expense of Scottish giants Rangers last season, has also been linked with a move to north London recently.

Indeed, the 48-year-old has apparently been subject to contact from Spurs, with reports suggesting at the time there was a temptation from Glasner to succeed Conte.

After claims that Tottenham have been eyeing him as a potential managerial contender, Eintracht now confirm he will part company.

Despite still having another year left on his deal, the tactician is set to depart 12 months early, as the Bundesliga side release a statement on social media.

They explained:

What could Glasner bring to Spurs?

Rumoured to be a target and in Spurs’ thinking fairly recently, it appears Levy and co will now have a free run at appointing Glasner with no club standing in the way this summer.

He has his credentials, not least his experience clinching European silverware, with Glasner even possessing know-how as a sporting director – having held that role alongside being manager at LASK for four years from 2015 to 2019 (Transfermarkt).

Glasner deploys a 3-4-2-1 formation – potentially meaning Spurs wing-backs like Pedro Porro could benefit from not having to go through the adjustment period of adapting to a back four.

The former Wolfsburg boss has also been praised by rival coaches, like Marco Rose, who’ve praised his “intense” and “aggressive” style.

Rose explained:

“Oliver Glasner’s intense and aggressive football has brought big success to Frankfurt. They have solutions in and out of possession.”

Warner out of tri-series with broken finger

David Warner has been effectively ruled out out of the triangular series and may require surgery for a broken left index finger suffered while fielding during Australia’s victory over South Africa in St Kitts on Saturday. In a grievous blow to Steven Smith’s side, Warner will be lost to the top order for the remainder of the tournament and is now in a race to be fully fit in time for the start of the Test tour to Sri Lanka in July. He had made an unbeaten half-century and a century in three innings of the triangular series so far, following a successful IPL.Australia’s team doctor Geoffrey Verrall said Warner’s recovery time could be anywhere between two and six weeks if he does not require surgery, but he may be out for longer should a procedure be required.”The x-ray showed an intra-articular fracture of the distal phalanx of the index finger of the left hand – the top part of that finger,” Verrall said. “We will assess the situation over the coming days to see if the injury requires a surgical option but should that not be the case then David is likely to be available to return to play in somewhere between two and six weeks.”The selector on duty Trevor Hohns and interim coach Justin Langer are yet to decide whether Warner will be replaced by another player flown in from Australia or elsewhere. Warner said the injury would provide him with an opportunity for downtime ahead of a demanding international schedule over the next 12 months.”It’s obviously disappointing to be sidelined given the form I’ve been in and given the important stage the tri-series is at, but it’s always important to look at the positives,” he said. “This downtime, however long or short it is, will give me the chance to freshen up and spend quality time with my family after an intense period of action.”Langer said he was particularly disappointed to lose Warner’s services after watching the example he had set around the squad. “It’s doubly disappointing to have David Warner sidelined because of his outstanding form plus his attitude and professionalism around the group which has been a joy to work with,” he said. “But we’ve spoken from day one of this tour about every single person in the squad contributing to our success.”I’ve encouraged the players not in the starting eleven to be ready at all times because you never know when opportunities might come. One of the boys will now get that opportunity in David’s absence.”Australia’s captain, Steven Smith, said that while it would be a blow for Australia to miss Warner during the tri-series, the main goal would be to ensure Warner was available for the first Test against Sri Lanka, which begins in Pallekele on July 26.”The most important thing from my aspect is that he’s right for the Test series,” Smith said. “That’s still about six weeks away before the first Test. I think the medical staff and Davey are confident that he’ll be fine for that first Test match.”It’s always tough missing players like Davey, particularly at the moment. He’s in the form of his life and batting beautifully. It’s going to be a big loss for us. I’m sure whoever steps into that position is going to do a terrific job.”Warner’s injury may mean a recall for Glenn Maxwell, following the allrounder’s poor displays in the opening two matches of the tournament. Usman Khawaja is likely to move up the order to partner Aaron Finch for Monday’s match against the West Indies.
