Postecoglou Must Ditch Celtic’s £12k-p/w Diamond

Champions-elect Celtic racked up their 30th Scottish Premiership win of the season in style with a commanding, 4-1 victory over Kilmarnock on Sunday afternoon, with midfield maestro Matt O'Riley notably netting a brace amid a blistering opening for the Parkhead outfit.

That comfortable triumph at Rugby Park had come despite the Hoops being without the likes of Cameron Carter-Vickers and Jota, with the duo having seemingly been left out of the matchday squad amid potential concerns over turning out on an artificial pitch.

The absence of the latter man, in particular, provided a big opportunity for fellow winger Sead Haksabanovic to impress on the right flank, with the Montenegro international having been handed his first start in the league since November.

Despite having no doubt been chomping at the bit to make his mark amid that rare inclusion in the starting XI, it is fair to say that the summer arrival was one of the more underwhelming features of that resounding victory.

How did Haksabanovic perform against Kilmarnock?

The 23-year-old – who was previously hailed as a "diamond" by former boss Jan Jonsson – has endured a mixed start to life in Glasgow thus far, having been restricted to just 11 starts in all competitions this season, albeit while chipping in with five goals and four assists in that time.

With it undoubtedly having been a 'massive chance' for Haksabanovic to 'stake his claim' ahead of the season run-in, including the Scottish Cup semi-final showdown with Rangers – according to Celtic Way's Tony Haggerty – the Sweden-born playmaker was arguably not at his brilliant best.

While the forward's lack of regular game time may have been a factor in that rusty outing, manager Ange Postecoglou may well have been expecting more from the former Rubin Kazan man, as he was rather ineffective in the final third.

Celtic's Sead Haksabanovic

That inability to make an impact was showcased by the fact that the £12k-per-week man was rather erratic on the ball after losing possession 16 times from his 56 touches, having also offered little threat after failing to complete any of his five attempted dribbles.

As Haggerty noted, the one-time West Ham United asset 'flitted in and out of the game' while the rest of the attacking unit ran riot, having also been rather ineffective defensively after winning just four of his 13 total duels.

That 'quiet' showing – as per Glasgow Live's Alan Galindo – will not have the aforementioned Jota fearing for his place in the side, with Haksabanovic needing to 'show more' if he is to properly establish himself as part of the forward line, in the words of Haggerty.

As such, it would be no real surprise if the 5 foot 9 dynamo is ditched from the side for Saturday's clash against Motherwell at Paradise, having been unable to provide Postecoglou with a genuine selection headache moving forward.

Man United Looking To Sell £91k p/w Defender In Summer

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag will be looking for the club to move on Eric Bailly over the coming summer transfer window.

What's happened to Eric Bailly?

The Red Devils were dumped out of Europe on Thursday night with a humiliating 3-0 defeat away to Sevilla crushing their dreams of getting their hands on the Europa League.

Ten Hag and his men still have one more shot at adding to their Carabao Cup with their FA Cup semi-final coming up on the weekend at Wembley Stadium.

It has been a season of progress at Old Trafford with the Red Devils sitting in a great position to secure themselves a spot in the Champions League for next season.

But it seems there could also be a clear out on the horizon in Manchester with Ten Hag looking to sell a number of players who are currently out on loan.

One of them being Bailly who has spent the 2022/23 campaign on loan with Marseille, but it has not been a straightforward season for the Ivorian.

The 29-year-old has only made four starts in Ligue 1 this season with injury and suspension hindering his game time for the French side (via Transfermarkt).

And speaking on his Here We Go podcast, Fabrizio Romano has claimed the £91k-per-week ace is a player who is not wanted at Old Trafford ahead of next season:

(11:35) "So Bailly will be back to Manchester United and from what I understand, he will be on the market. So he's not going to be part of Manchester United project next season unless something new happens, so the idea is to sell Bailly."

Should United sell Bailly in the summer?

The Ivorian has previously been slammed as "dreadful" by journalist Josh Bunting for some of his defending during his time at Old Trafford.

And it is apparent his recent spell in France is leaving a lot to be desired with the 29-year-old clearly not in the manager's thinking have only racked up four league starts.

Perhaps a lot of his failings at Marseille could be accredited to his horror challenge which saw him hit with a stunning seven-game suspension.

Eric Bailly lines out for Manchester United as they play in the Europa League.

But his time on the pitch has seen him provide some fairly impressive defensive returns as he ranks inside the top percentile for interceptions and the top second percentile for blocks made (via FBref).

However, United have made some significant additions to their side over recent years with Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez.

But with their backup options failing to provide much relief amid the duo's injury issues, is Bailly really the man to provide them with deeper squad depth next season?

Reporter Slams Man United Disaster Vs Forest

Manchester United reporter Samuel Luckhurst slammed defender Harry Maguire during Sunday’s 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

What did Luckhurst have to say about Maguire?

Maguire kept his place in United’s Premier League starting line up for just the second time this season, with Erik ten Hag without Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane due to injury. The 30-year-old picked up a yellow card after just three minutes following a tangle with Taiwo Awoniyi but ended up helping the visitors to three points with goals in each half from Antony and Diogo Dalot sealing the win.Luckhurst, chief Manchester United writer for The Manchester Evening News, provided live updates on the site during the game and didn’t hold back when it came to Maguire early on.He described the centre-back as a walking disaster during the first half, feeling he was becoming unnerved by the home crowd. Just moments later, Luckhurst said that Maguire was very lucky not to give away a penalty after the ball struck his arm in the box.

Harry Maguire Manchester United

What did the stats say on Maguire?

Maguire may have started the game slowly, and statistically, the Red Devils captain was the worst-rated United defender at the City Ground. As per SofaScore on the full-time whistle, the England international ended with a match rating of 7.1/10 – slightly below the average score of an away side player at 7.23/10.The centre-back gave possession away on 13 occasions, one of which saw him pass the ball completely out of play. Meanwhile, he was successful with just one of his seven attempted long balls and lost six of his 12 duels. However, it wasn’t a catastrophic performance, with Maguire making seven clearances and three interceptions, more than any United defender.

He may well be required to play a more regular role going forward as well due to the club’s current injury crisis, so hopefully, he’ll be able to put his opening 20-minute display behind him and look to build on another clean sheet in the top flight.

West Ham United Now Open To Selling £90k-p/w "Huge Talent"

West Ham United are open to selling Gianluca Scamacca during the upcoming transfer window, according to reports in the last 48 hours.

What's the latest on Scamacca's future?

The Irons striker swapped the Serie A for the Premier League back in July when he put pen to paper on a long-term deal from Sassuolo, and still has another four years remaining on his contract at the London Stadium.

The Italy international, however, hasn’t made the significant impression he would have hoped, having made just 11 starts and five substitute appearances in the top flight (as per WhoScored), not to mention that he was unavailable for 30 days after sustaining a knee injury.

After falling out of favour under David Moyes, the 24-year-old has been attracting attention and has already been linked with the likes of Juventus, while it sounds as if the hierarchy are more than happy to sanction his exit.

According to Football Insider, West Ham are “open to selling” Scamacca with him having failed to show what he’s capable of during his debut season in E20. Italian clubs, who are unnamed in the report, are “expected to launch formal interest” later in the summer, and with the boss already looking at new attacking reinforcements, any fresh faces arriving could “open the door” to a departure.

It’s believed that the future of Moyes and whether the club are able to avoid relegation will also be a “factor” when it comes to deciding his future.

West Ham United striker Gianluca Scamacca.

Should West Ham keep or sell Scamacca?

Scamacca has been lauded as a “huge talent” at West Ham by journalist Josh Bunting, and whilst he has shown glimpses of potential, he’s arguably not done enough to stay beyond the summer considering his transfer fee, so the board should cash in while there is interest.

The 6 foot 5 colossus has scored eight goals in 27 appearances since joining, but only three of those have come in the Premier League, as per Transfermarkt, so he’s short in the one competition that he arguably needs to be the most prolific in.

The £90k-per-week striker had been unable to dislodge Michail Antonio as the Hammers' undisputed first-choice up front, while Danny Ings' arrival has also disrupted his chances of regular game time.

Scamacca and the Irons will have no doubt wished that things could have turned out better, but that just hasn't been the case, so we feel it would be best for both parties to go their separate ways where the player can have a fresh start elsewhere and the Hammers can use his transfer fee to generate funds for new signings later in the summer.

Villa Could Ease Martinez Blow With "Exceptional" Star

Aston Villa may find it difficult to keep star goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez this summer following his sensational displays at the World Cup with Argentina – but Johan Lange could find a dream replacement in Liverpool's Caoimhin Kelleher.

Could Villa lose Emiliano Martinez this summer?

Former Arsenal man Martinez has been the subject of interest from a number of top clubs in England as well as on the continent, which suggests that an exit could be on the cards for the 30-year-old if he is offered Champions League football elsewhere.

Unai Emery will no doubt be keen to keep the shot-stopper as Villa look set to earn a European spot of their own, as the Argentinian has been in impressive form in recent weeks, earning clean sheets in wins against Chelsea and Newcastle United recently.

Martinez has made 29 appearances in the top flight so far this campaign and conceded just 33 times, keeping 11 clean sheets, so it is easy to see why he is attracting interest from some of the biggest names across Europe.

He also won the Golden Glove in Qatar after helping inspire Lionel Scaloni's side to glory at the World Cup, with his penalty shootout saves in wins against the Netherlands and in the final against France proving vital.

The former Reading loanee has suggested that he loves being at the club and wants to stay, but Villa fans have seen the same responses from the likes of Jack Grealish and Fabian Delph in the past, so should be prepared if he does depart.

Emiliano Martinez for Argentina

If reports are to be believed, Johan Lange could look to bring in Liverpool 'keeper Kelleher as the long-term replacement for Martinez at Villa Park.

Could Villa sign Kelleher?

According to The Transfer Room, Kelleher is keen to leave Anfield this summer as he continues to play second fiddle to Alisson – and is an option for Villa, Leicester City and Celtic.

The report claims that Jurgen Klopp wants to keep him at the club but will also not stand in the way of him leaving, with the Reds thought to value him at around £30m.

The 24-year-old has also been a regular in Stephen Kenny's Republic of Ireland side, with the national manager describing him as an "exceptional" goalkeeper back in 2021.

Kelleher has made 20 appearances for Liverpool and kept an impressive 10 clean sheets, so is clearly a reliable man in between the sticks, while he also played a huge part in the Reds' Carabao Cup win last season.

Therefore, if the worst happens and Martinez does leave this summer, Lange could find Emery a solid replacement in the shape of the 24-year-old.

"Source" Close To Gnonto Shares Worrying Leeds News

Leeds United forward Wilfried Gnonto has been fully fit for selection in the club’s last two Premier League games, according to a source close to the player.

What’s the latest Leeds news on Gnonto?

Gnonto arrived in the summer from FC Zurich and has made 23 appearances during his first season at Elland Road. The Italy international has scored four times and registered three assists for the Whites but has fallen out of favour under current head coach JavI Gracia.

The forward has played just 53 minutes of action in the club’s last six league games, failing to get on from the bench in Tuesday’s 1-1 draw with Leicester.

Many inside the stadium and in the media were left surprised that the 19-year-old didn’t feature in the week, which led to Gracia being quizzed on why he didn’t use Gnonto following the game.

LUFCFANZONE posted on Twitter in the last 48 hours after hearing from “a source close to the player”. They said that Gnonto suffered a small injury prior to the 6-1 defeat to Liverpool but has been fully fit for selection against Fulham and Leicester.

“Before the Liverpool game Willy sustained a small injury. He was 80% fit for the Liverpool game but has been 100% and available full strength for every game after.”

Worrying for all involved…

Phil Hay has described the situation as strange and compared it to Joe Gelhardt last season, but it is a worry that Gnonto has been fully fit and has played just 10 minutes in the last two games.

He has made things happen this season, registering the same number of assists as Brenden Aaronson in half the playing time while also providing moments of brilliance such as the opener at Old Trafford and stunning volley against Cardiff City.

Gnonto was backed by Hay to be key in the club’s battle to avoid the drop just last month, so it is concerning that he simply isn’t fancied by Gracia, with Conor McGilligan even suggesting there may have been a clash between the pair, something which many may feel could be accurate following this update.

It's not as if Leeds have been free-flowing in the final third without Gnonto either, and with Luis SInisterra going off injured against Leicester, it looks like it is between Jack Harrison, Crysencio Summerville and Gnonto for two starting spots on the wing against Bournemouth this weekend, in what appears to be a make or break game for Leeds in their attempts to avoid the drop.

Leeds Eyeing Move For £20k-A-Week La Liga Man

Leeds United are believed to be interested in making a move for Villarreal attacker Boulaye Dia during the summer transfer window.

Do Leeds need summer signings?

The Whites have had a tough time of things in the Premier League for a second consecutive season, with results and performances both not good enough. They stayed up on the final day last year, and given their current 16th-place position, it could go to the wire again this time around.

Too often, there has simply been a lack of quality on show, as well as depth, so it is essential that key signings are made at the end of the season. Staying up is clearly key to being able to attract top-level players to Elland Road, further highlighting the importance of these next few weeks.

Various areas of the pitch could do with an injection of life in the next few months, and it looks as though Leeds could be looking at the attacking third for potential new signing, following a new transfer report that has emerged.

Could midfielder seal Leeds move?

According to La Citta di Salerno [via Sport Witness], the Whites are battling with fellow Premier League club Everton to secure the signing of Dia this summer. It is described as a "blitz" by the pair, as well as AC Milan, as current loan club Salernitana also look to sign him permanently from Villarreal.

Leeds have been following the 26-year-old "for months now", suggesting he is a serious long-term target as we approach the summer window.

Dia could be a great signing by the Whites if they manage to strike a deal, having scored 11 goals and registered six assists in Serie A so far this season. The £20,000-a-week Senegal international has an admirer in legendary compatriot Sadio Mane, too, who has spoken glowingly of him in the past, which says a lot about his ability.

He could add the attacking spark that is badly needed at Leeds this summer – Rodrigo (11) is the only player to have scored more than four goals in the league – coming in as a player right in and around the peak of his powers, and likely remaining that way for the next four or five years.

Dia's international record of six goals in 25 caps is also a solid return, with one of those strikes coming against hosts Qatar at the last year's 2022 World Cup.

Chelsea Looking At Ruben Amorim As New Manager

Chelsea are believed to be eyeing up Sporting CP boss Ruben Amorim as their potential next manager this summer, according to a new update.

What is Chelsea's current manager situation?

It has been a dramatic season at Stamford Bridge, with two managers arriving and being sacked between the beginning of the campaign and now. Thomas Tuchel was replaced by Graham Potter early on, but a lack of good performances and positive results ultimately led to his demise.

Frank Lampard is now back in charge for a second stint as Chelsea manager, although the Blues playing legend is only expected to stay on until the end of the season. At that point, a more high-profile appointment is expected to be made, with the likes of Julian Nagelsmann, Mauricio Pochettino and Jose Mourinho all linked with the job recently.

It is a key decision for the club to make, with next season having to be one that sees the team kick on, and now a new candidate has entered to the race to take charge in west London.

Could Blues appoint Amorim as next boss?

According to The Daily Mail, Chelsea have "spoken to" Sporting's "highly-rated" manager Amorim about becoming the next Blues boss in the summer. The 38-year-old is believed to be "among the names Chelsea's chiefs were keen to discuss the vacancy with", in what is described as an "'exhaustive' hunt for a new manager."

Nagelsmann and Enrique are mentioned as "leading candidates" to become manager, although it certainly appears as though Amorim is in the mix with "talks" being held. He has been in charge of Sporting since 2020, having arrived from Braga, and in that time he has won the Primeira Liga once, not to mention tasting Portuguese Cup glory three times – twice at his current club and one with his previous team.

The Portuguese may not be as big a name as some of those mentioned, but he could potentially be a really shrewd acquisition by Chelsea. At 38, he is a young manager with fresh ideas and tactical nous, and he has already picked up a winning mentality at Sporting, given his aforementioned trophy haul. He also has a chance of winning the Europa League this season, although his side trail 1-0 going into their quarter-final second leg clash at home to Juventus.

Amorim has been described as "one of the best" coaches in the game currently by Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, which is high praise, so it is a move Chelsea should consider.
